RSS
  1. 14 changes
    1. Clearer Focus Panel views

Overdue shows everything past its due date, In Progress everything you're working on, a new Blocked view shows work that's held up, and Upcoming lists what's due in the next 30 days, including recurring tasks not yet created.

    2. Images in email signatures

Add your logo or a banner to your signature from the media library, or paste one straight in. Clients see it on every email, reply and automatic reminder.

    3. Restrict a client to the people you choose

Keeping a sensitive client to a few people no longer needs a team of its own. Restrict the client and pick who can see it, right on its record. Everyone else stops seeing it anywhere, imports and exports included.

    4. Bulk email sent once per address

A contact on several clients, like the director of a group of companies, can now get one copy of a bulk email instead of one for each client. Before you send, you see who is on more than one client and how many extra copies you'd have sent.

    5. Find a permission on the role page

Search a role's permissions, and the column headings stay in view as you scroll.

    6. Right step count in the task side panel

The side panel now shows the same step count as the task page.

    7. Change history for a client's service

Change History on a service card's menu lists every change to its price, billing period, package terms, quantity, dates, status and auto-invoicing: the old and new values, who made the change, when, and the accepted proposal it came from.

    8. Send client emails from the person sending them

Settings > Email now offers three choices for who client emails come from: the practice default, the client's manager, or the person sending it, so replies go back to them. Document Request, Approval, Upload and Confirmation steps now have Send from as well.

    9. Checklist ticks in task History

Ticking or unticking a checklist item, on the task or on a step, now appears in History with who did it and when. Earlier ticks show too.

    10. Client, Task and VAT Scheme columns

The tasks list can show separate, sortable Client and Task columns. The clients list can show a VAT Scheme column. Saved views can use them too.

    11. Preferred names by default

Creating a client from a contact selects the preferred name. Changing a person's first, preferred or last name renames the client to match. The Contacts section shows preferred names.

    12. Save and run a test in one click

The workflow editor's Save button has a Save and Run Test option and remembers which one you used last. Test runs start with automation on, so automatic steps run while you watch.

    13. Meetings and attachments in the MCP

Ask your AI assistant to prepare you for a client meeting: it can now read the client's meetings and notes, open email attachments (screenshots included), and filter tasks from today onwards.

    14. Search pages, guides and videos from the top bar

The top bar search finds more than clients now: the app's pages, every report and settings page, and our guides and videos. You only see pages you can open, and videos play right there in Sodium.

  2. 12 changes
    1. Move open work when a role changes hands

Change a client's manager, partner or associate, or a service's manager, preparer or reviewer, and Sodium offers to move that role's open tasks and unfinished workflow steps to the new person. It shows how much will move first. Work you've already given to someone else by hand stays where it is.

    2. Spot a step pointing at the wrong service

In the workflow editor, a step that assigns from a service the workflow's recurring tasks aren't for now shows an Other service badge, with a note under the service picker.

    3. Stop an API key sending messages

Turn on Block send for an API key under Profile > API keys, and it can't send emails, texts or WhatsApp messages, whatever its role allows. It can still create and edit drafts. Blocked keys show a Send blocked badge.

    4. Play videos in the file preview

The file preview now plays MP4 videos in the browser, so a video in a client's Documents or attached to an email opens in Sodium without downloading it.

    5. Set a budget for each job

Give a service the hours each job should take, split by stage if you like, and Sodium shows how every client's job is tracking against it on the task and the client's services, warning you as it nears the budget and when it goes over. Change the figures for a client who takes longer, or turn on fee budgets in Time Tracking settings to measure the value of the time against each client's price too.

    6. See every job against its budget

The Budgets report under Reports lists each job for the period you pick, worst first, with its hours and fee against budget. Click a job to see where its time went, by task and by person, or export it to CSV.

    7. Value of all time on Cost & Profit

The Cost & Profit report has a Value of all time column, counting non-billable time at its charge-out rate, so you can see what a client's work really took beside what you billed.

    8. Practice holidays over several days

Add a practice holiday that runs for several days, such as a Christmas shutdown, as one entry with a start and end date in Settings > Working Days. Recurring task dates, Team Time's expected hours and the Capacity report allow for every day of it.

    9. Log time against a stage

When a service has stages, pick the stage the time was for as you log it. The Service Time report can then split a service's time by stage, and budgets show how each stage is tracking.

    10. Your own fields in proposals and engagement letters

Add your own tokens to proposal and engagement letter templates, and Sodium asks you for their values each time you create one. Details that change from client to client go straight into the documents, with no editing afterwards.

    11. See who's on leave when you assign work

When you pick someone for a task or a client, anyone on leave over the work's dates is flagged, so work doesn't land on someone who's away.

    12. Cancelling a document approval removes the document

A cancelled approval now takes the document back out of the client's portal folder, so a document sent by mistake isn't left showing.

  3. 5 changes
    1. Find the report you need faster

The reports page now groups every report by the question it answers, from delivery and deadlines to team capacity and time and money, with a preview of each one, so you can go straight to the details of the report you're looking for.

    2. See who has room for more work

The new Capacity report shows each person's and team's planned work against the hours they have free, by week or month, including recurring work still to come. It allows for bank holidays, practice holidays and time off. Click a cell to see the work behind it and reassign it.

    3. Record time off

Add holiday and other time off for yourself or your team under Time > Time off. Team Time's expected hours, your time target and the Capacity report all allow for it, and anyone away shows as On leave when you assign them work.

    4. Keyboard shortcuts

Turn on keyboard shortcuts on the Keyboard Shortcuts page of your user menu to move around Sodium and act from the keyboard. Press ? to see every shortcut and change its key, or Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on Mac) to find any command.

    5. Forward an email

Forward any message from a mailbox with its original attachments, and remove any you don't want to send.

  4. 2 changes
    1. CIS Manager, connected to Sodium

Connect CIS Manager and your contractor clients' monthly CIS return runs from their task in Sodium, with subcontractor verification and deduction statements alongside it.

    2. Each HMRC notice on the right client

Outlook and Gmail group emails with the same subject into one conversation, so a run of HMRC notices could only be linked to one client. Split any email into a conversation of its own, or never group emails from an address or domain, and the ones already in the mailbox are split too.

  5. 2 changes
    1. Sodium is in Claude's connector directory

Find Sodium Practice Management in Claude's connector directory, sign in with your Sodium login, and ask Claude about your clients, tasks and deadlines.

    2. Send a client confirmation again

A client confirmation step set back to Not Started now offers Preview and Send again, on the task page and in the focus panel.

  6. 4 changes
    1. Avatars on @mentions in notes

Each person you @mention in a note now shows with their avatar next to their name, so you can see at a glance who's been brought in.

    2. Companies House codes in MCP tools

Your AI assistant can now save a contact's Companies House personal code and a client's Companies House authentication code. It also finds unassigned tasks first time when you ask for them.

    3. Desktop notifications, type by type

Choose which notifications also pop up on your computer: each type in your notification settings now has a Desktop option next to In-app and Email. Allow pop-ups in this browser from the same page and send yourself a test to check they work. They show when Sodium isn't the window you're working in.

    4. Your own email signature on a shared mailbox

Anyone who can send from a mailbox can now set their own signature for it under Just me. The mailbox's Everyone signature is used by people who haven't set their own, and on emails Sodium sends automatically.

  7. 17 changes
    1. Granola meeting notes, filed on the right client

Connect Granola and each meeting it writes up lands on the client's Meetings tab, with the summary, the full transcript and who was there. They're copied into Sodium, so they stay if you stop using Granola. Meetings it can't place wait on one list with a client suggested, and you can bring in past meetings from a date you choose.

    2. @mention colleagues in notes

Type @ in a note on a client, a task or a workflow step and pick a colleague. They get a notification with the start of the note that opens the client's notes or the task.

    3. Statutory deadlines on the task calendar

Each day on the task calendar shows how many client statutory deadlines fall on it. Click the count to see the deadline types and the clients behind each.

    4. Jump to a date on the task calendar

Click the date at the top of the task calendar to pick any day, week or month and go straight to it.

    5. A tidier task calendar toolbar

Steps, Statutory deadlines, Weekends and Subscribe now sit in one options menu beside Today, so the calendar header has less to scan.

    6. Total fees at the top of a client's Services

The Services section on the client record adds up the client's service fees, so you can see what a client is worth without working it out. For a prospect, the total is marked Proposed.

    7. Cancel or retry a stuck Xama onboarding request

When an onboarding request needs action, for example after the practice ran out of Xama credits, cancel it or retry it from the client record.

    8. Choose the columns on the Contacts list

Show, hide and reorder the columns on the Contacts list, including Preferred Name and Mobile, which start hidden.

    9. Preferred names for individual clients

When you create an individual client from a contact, choose whether the client is named by the contact's first name or their preferred name.

    10. Trading As on the Clients list

Add a Trading As column to the Clients list.

    11. Ignore Socket lines that aren't services

Map a line on a Socket proposal to Ignore and it no longer blocks Create Services. Later proposals with the same line are ignored too.

    12. Skip onboarding tasks when adding a service

Adding a service from a client's Services tab has a Create onboarding tasks switch, so you can leave them out when the work is already underway.

    13. See when an automatic step will run

A step that runs automatically shows the date it's waiting for. Hover to see the time, and whether it runs when the task starts or on its planned date.

    14. Run a waiting automatic step now

Open an automatic step that's waiting for its date and click Do it now to run it straight away. Its status is set by the run, so you can't change it by hand while it waits.

    15. Create a task from an email in one click

Click Quick task above an email and the task is ready to create. The subject is the title, the linked client is filled in, it's assigned to you with the category you used last time, and start and due days are one click each. More options opens the full form with your choices carried over.

    16. See a task's email on its Details tab

A task with one linked email and no workflow shows that conversation on its Details tab. The Email tab shows how many conversations are linked.

    17. Two-factor authentication required to connect Xero

Xero requires every practice that connects to it to use two-factor authentication. Sodium now turns it on for you: connect or reconnect Xero and you're asked to switch it on first, and it stays on while Xero is connected. Existing Xero connections keep working.

  8. 3 changes
    1. Share every client email from your mailbox

Keep your inbox private but let colleagues see every email with a client. Anything to or from an address saved on a client or contact shows on that client's Email tab, and nothing else does.

    2. Meetings on a client's Notes tab

Record a meeting or call with its date and time, whether it was in person, by video or by phone, the staff and client contacts there, a task, a summary, the full notes or transcript, and links such as a recording. VoIP and AI call assistants can add calls through the Sodium API.

    3. Copy pricing factors from another service

Pick another service, choose which of its pricing factors to bring across, and they're added to this one as its own copies.

  9. 1 change
    1. Key dates, overdue requests and email drafts in MCP tools

Ask which clients have accounts or other key dates coming up, list document requests past their deadline, and save a draft email in your own mailbox to review and send yourself.

  10. 4 changes
    1. Planned tasks and a Hide planned filter

Upcoming occurrences of recurring tasks show as Planned. Add Hide planned to your filters to hide them, and saved views, the calendar and the dashboard Tasks widget follow it.

    2. Tokens in portal folder paths

A document step's portal folder path can use tokens. When the client is notified or approves on the portal, Visible in Client Portal shows locked on with the reason, and the path can still be edited.

    3. New client from a contact keeps the team

Creating an individual client from a contact gives it the same client manager, partner and associate as the client the contact came from.

    4. Rates can't be set below zero

Hourly and cost rates now reject small negative values such as -0.01, which were previously rounded to 0.

  11. 3 changes
    1. Branch VAT numbers

A VAT number can be 12 digits: the 9-digit number plus a 3-digit branch identifier.

    2. Page controls on the Socket proposals list

The proposals list shows its paging controls again.

    3. Workflow step notes and more context in MCP tools

Add a note to one step of a task's workflow. Task tools show the service and statutory due date, service details list the stages, and a client summary shows each service's current stage.

  12. 6 changes
    1. Drag a task to another week or month

Hold a dragged calendar entry past the edge of the grid and the calendar pages to the next or previous week or month, then drop it there.

    2. Actions menu on a client's services

Each service on a client's Services tab has a menu: Edit Details, Billing Settings, Billing Schedule, View Tasks, View Service and Delete. View Tasks opens the client's Tasks tab filtered to that service.

    3. Notify the client of several documents at once

Select documents on a client's Documents tab and choose Notify client, or upload several files and notify in one go.

    4. Notes widget reads as text until you click it

A rich-text note on the dashboard shows as plain content. Click it to edit, and links in it open directly.

    5. Help in the top bar

A Help button opens guides for the page you're on, video walkthroughs and a link to email support.

    6. Partial task updates in the API

A PATCH on a task changes only the fields you send, and null clears a field.

  13. 1 change
    1. Month.Year tokens for recurring task names

New Month.Year, Month.Previous.Year and Month.Next.Year tokens, so a task created in January for December is named with the right year. The Bookkeeping, Management Accounts and CIS Return library templates use them.

  14. 6 changes
    1. Bill for Work step

A workflow step that bills the client when the work is done, at the service's price or a fixed amount. It can create the invoice straight away, and can run automatically.

    2. Review & Bill Time step

Review and correct the time logged on a task, then bill it, write it off or on, or finish without billing. Choose which time it shows (this task's, the task and its service, or all the client's unbilled time) and whether billing is Optional, Required or Off.

    3. Choose when a service is billed

When to bill on a service: In arrears, In advance, or When the work is done, billed by a Bill for Work step. Override it on a client's service. A warning shows if none of the service's recurring tasks has a step that bills it.

    4. Invoice or delete several line items at once

Select line items on a client's billing and invoice them now, or delete them. Deleting puts any time billed on them back to unbilled.

    5. Plan steps in weeks or months, and set each group's deadline

A step's planned date can count in days, weeks or months. Each group sets its own deadline, before the task's due date or after its start date, so one workflow can mix the two.

    6. Inbox, Unread and Done in the bell

The bell has Inbox, Unread and Done tabs, and you can mark an item unread. A link in a notification email opens the item and marks it read.

  15. 9 changes
    1. Log time from a calendar meeting

A meeting in the Sodium calendar has a Log time button. It fills in the date, start and end time, duration and description from the meeting. Pick a client and, optionally, a task, or log it as internal time. If you've already logged that meeting, you're warned before a second entry is added.

    2. Duplicate a step or a group

Duplicate a single step or a whole group in a workflow. The copy goes straight after the original with all its settings and is marked (copy). In a copied group, steps depend on each other rather than on the original group. Tasks already created from the workflow don't change.

    3. Complete or skip all steps at once

A task's workflow card has a Set all steps button that completes or skips every open step. You can also cancel the client's outstanding requests, and any scheduled sends are cancelled.

    4. Cancel a document request or form

Cancel a document request or form request from its page, or from its step on a task. The client can no longer respond and chasing stops. If the client opens the request, they see it has been cancelled.

    5. Set Pipeline Stage can clear the stage

A Set Pipeline Stage step can now set a card to No stage, the same as Set Service Stage.

    6. More VAT schemes

The client VAT Scheme field adds Partial Exemption, Retail Schemes, Tour Operators Margin Scheme, Agricultural Flat Rate Scheme and One Stop Shop. Client CSV import accepts the new names too, including TOMS, OSS and MOSS.

    7. Task templates on the workflow page

A workflow has a Task Templates tab listing the templates that use it.

    8. VAT Period, Preparer and Reviewer on a service's clients

The Clients tab on a VAT service shows each client's VAT period, and Preparer and Reviewer columns appear when the service uses those roles.

    9. Full width clients list

The clients list can use the full width of the screen, like the tasks and time lists. Turn on Full width in the column picker.

  16. 7 changes
    1. Every client gets a logo or badge

Each client now shows its logo wherever clients appear, or a badge of its initials in a colour that stays the same for that client. Upload, replace or remove a logo from the client page. When a client has a business email address or website, Sodium looks for their logo and adds it automatically; a logo you upload is never replaced. Turn it off in Settings → Clients → Show client logos.

    2. Make Client Manager, Partner or Associate required

In Settings → Clients, each of these fields has a Required switch. A client can't be saved from the add or edit form without it. Existing clients aren't checked until they're next edited.

    3. Start from a template when creating a task from an email

The Link to task dialog's Create New tab has a Start from template option. Choosing a template prefills the task and adds its workflow steps, and the task is still linked to the email.

    4. Save and add another on Create Line Item

Create Line Item has a Save and add another option alongside Save. It saves the line and opens a fresh Create Line Item for the same client.

    5. Skip if not a working day now skips weekends

On a recurring task, Skip if not a working day only skipped bank holidays and practice holidays, so Saturday and Sunday dates were still created. It now treats weekends as non-working days, the same as the Move to previous and next working day options.

    6. Tokens in a form's title resolve in the request email

A token such as {{ Client.Name }} in a form's title showed correctly in the form but arrived as raw text in the subject line and message of the request email. It now resolves there too, including when a form is resent.

    7. Find a client or contact by phone number

The clients and contacts lists in the API take a phone filter. A number matches however it's written: with or without +44 or a leading zero, and with spaces, brackets or an extension. Each contact comes back with the clients it's linked to, so a phone system can tell who is calling.

  17. 3 changes
    1. Resume a timer from today's entries

The Start timer pill has a Recent timers menu. Resume one of today's entries, and when you stop the timer the new time is added to that entry. If the entry has been billed since then, the time is saved as a new entry instead.

    2. Logged today against your working pattern

The Recent timers menu shows how much time you've logged today. If you have a working pattern, it shows your target for the day too, with a bar that fills as you log time and turns green when you reach it.

    3. Clearer message when an email can't send

If an email can't be sent because your default email connection needs reconnecting, the message now names the connection and tells you where to fix it. If no default connection is set, it says that instead.

  18. 1 change
    1. Several sets of HMRC credentials

Keep more than one set of HMRC agent details, such as for a second office, in Settings → HMRC Agent. Each set has its own Government Gateway login, agent codes and contact, and one is the default. When you send a 64-8 request you choose which Government Gateway login makes it, and entering the posted code later uses the same one.

  19. 1 change
    1. Finished work leaves your notifications

When a step or task is completed, skipped or closed, singly or in bulk, its notifications are removed for everyone, including team items.

  20. 2 changes
    1. Notifications

A bell in the top bar shows new notifications, with a full inbox at Notifications. You're notified when someone assigns you a task or workflow step, when one of your steps is ready to start, and when a client sends documents, completes a form, confirms, approves or rejects documents, uploads to the portal, accepts a proposal or engagement letter, or submits an HMRC authorisation code. If you haven't seen a task or step notification within 30 minutes, it's emailed to you. Turn each type on or off for the app and for email in My Profile → Notification settings. Work assigned to your team is off unless you turn it on.

    2. Planned dates for workflow steps

Give a workflow step a Planned For date: the task start date, a number of days after it, or a number of days before the due date, with an optional time. The step shows on that date in the task calendar and on the task, and an automatic step waits until then to run. When you move a task with steps on their own dates, Sodium asks whether to move the steps too.

  21. 5 changes
    1. Preparer and Reviewer on client services

A service can expect a Preparer and/or a Reviewer, each with a default person. Set them wherever you set a client service's manager, including bulk assign. Recurring tasks, task templates and workflow steps can assign to Client's Service Preparer or Client's Service Reviewer, and workflow emails can send from them.

    2. Workflow or manual time estimate

A task's Time Estimate can come from its workflow's step estimates or be set by hand. Untick From workflow to enter your own. The same choice is on recurring tasks and task templates.

    3. Planned against actual in the time export

The time export now includes Workflow Step, Step Estimate and Task Estimate columns.

    4. Deal value and likelihood on pipelines

Turn on Track deal value for a pipeline to give each deal a value and a likelihood. Set them from the card on the board, the pipeline row on the client page, or the prospects list. Each stage shows its total and weighted value, the board shows Total pipeline and Weighted pipeline, and you can filter cards by likelihood to see best and worst cases. Off by default.

    5. Service Time drills down to tasks and steps

From a client in the Service Time report, drill down to its tasks and then their workflow steps, with estimate, time logged and variance at each level. Group by team member to see who logged the time against whose estimate. The CSV export follows whatever level is on screen.

  22. 2 changes
    1. Rates by task category and service

Set charge-out and cost rates for a task category or a service, for the whole practice or for one team member. A practice setting decides which wins when both apply. After changing a rate, preview the old and new figures and apply the change to time already logged.

    2. Export time entries

Export individual time entries for a date range to CSV from the Time page, filtered by team member and client.

  23. 1 change
    1. Choose who gets a resent request

When you resend a document request, document approval, form or client confirmation, pick which contacts get a fresh link, and choose whether to stop chasing everyone else. Confirmation steps on a task now have a Resend button.
