  1. 2 changes
    1. Link a single conversation to a client

Link to client now offers "Only this conversation" alongside all emails from the address or the domain, and each option says what it will do, including for future emails. Remove an email from a client from its badge.

    2. Move emails between folders

Drag a conversation onto a folder to move it, or use the new Move button on the conversation toolbar to pick a folder.

  2. 5 changes
    1. Export contacts

Download every contact, or just the ones you filter to, with each client they're linked to and their job title, in the same format the contacts import reads. Import and Export now sit on the contacts list.

    2. Merge duplicates in bulk

Search and filter duplicates by confidence and by whether they're ready to merge, then tick the ready contact groups and merge them in one go. Different roles on the same client are now combined, and "Ann Mary" now matches an Ann whose middle name is Mary.

    3. Payables in Client Books

See what a client owes alongside what they're owed on their Books tab.

    4. Smaller fixes

"Link to client" stays available on emails that already have a client link, the time box no longer cuts off in Firefox, saved view icons display properly, saved views page correctly past the first page, and the Import Clients page fits on one screen.

  3. 2 changes
    1. Find and merge duplicate contacts

A new Duplicates page groups contacts that are probably the same person as Certain, Strong or Possible, with the reason. Merge them side by side: pick the values to keep, see the result before saving, keep every email and phone number, and carry client links and portal access across.

    2. Merge from the contacts list

Tick two to four contacts on the contacts list and merge them. Merge Duplicate on a contact now starts with its likely duplicates already ticked.

  4. 1 change
    1. Filter and bulk delete contacts

Filter the contacts list by linked clients, email, source and portal access, and delete several contacts that aren't linked to a client in one go.

  5. 3 changes
    1. Contacts import finds clients your way

When importing contacts, choose how each row finds its client: by name, client code, company number, internal reference or NI number.

    2. Imports match people to the right client

A row naming a person now matches that person's own client, not a company they happen to be the main contact of.

    3. Imports wait their turn

A practice's imports now run one at a time. The import screen shows when an import is queued and keeps watching it until it finishes.

  6. 1 change
    1. VAT shown on invoice submissions

Each line on an invoice submission now shows its VAT rate, with a net, VAT and gross total, so you approve the figure the client actually receives.

  7. 2 changes
    1. Faster task lists

Task lists load noticeably quicker, especially in larger practices. As part of this, the Description column has been removed from the task list.

    2. Xero bank balances on the Books tab

Bank accounts on a Xero client's Books tab now show their real balance instead of Not reported. If a balance can't be read the row says Error, and it is left out of the totals.

  8. 4 changes
    1. Charity Commission register lookup

Search the Charity Commission register by name or number when adding a client, and refresh a client's details from the register later. Charitable companies and trusts carry their charity status and number, and CIOs now show as Charity (CIO).

    2. Charity Commission deadlines as key dates

Annual Return Due, Accounts Due, Last Annual Return Received, Last Accounts Received and Financial Year End come from the register as key dates you can report on and schedule work against.

    3. Import trustees as contacts

Import trustees from the register straight into a client's contacts with a new Trustee role. Anyone already on the client is matched rather than duplicated.

    4. Only income accounts when coding an invoice line

The account picker on an invoice line now lists only accounts that income can be posted to in Xero.

  9. 2 changes
    1. Share only the emails you choose from a private mailbox

A mailbox owner now decides who can read what arrives: Only me, Only emails I choose to share, or Everyone in the practice. From any conversation, share just that thread, everything from the sender's address or their domain, or mark it Never share, and share or exclude whole folders from the connection's settings. Shared emails appear on the client's Emails tab and on linked tasks for colleagues. Exceptions always win, even in a mailbox open to everyone, and only the person who connected the mailbox can change them.

    2. Keep a single email private in a shared conversation

Never share this email on any message hides that one message from colleagues while the rest of the thread stays shared. Share it again from the same place.

  10. 1 change
    1. All received mail on the client record

The client's Emails tab now defaults to All received, so a message filed out of the inbox still shows against the client. With a single connected mailbox the tab shows that mailbox's own folders rather than the combined set.

  11. 1 change
    1. Request Counts widget

Outstanding counts for the Requests page: Ready to Send, Scheduled, Forms Awaiting Reply, Approvals Pending, Doc Requests Open, Docs to Review and Confirmations Open. Pick which tiles you want, and click one to land on that list already filtered.

  12. 1 change
    1. Schedule a document approval from a workflow step

Send for Approval on a document approval step now offers the same schedule option as the Documents tab. The document stays hidden from the client until the send goes out.

  13. 7 changes
    1. Mark a custom field as required

Flag a field as required so letters and emails never merge a blank value, and see a tab listing every client still missing one.

    2. Fields that only apply to some clients

Limit a custom field to clients who have a given service, so each client record only shows the fields relevant to the work you do for them.

    3. Preview a step's email before it goes out

Open a preview of the email a workflow step will send, with any token that cannot be resolved marked in red so you can fix it before anyone receives it.

    4. More tokens to build names and emails from

Task start dates, due dates and statutory deadlines are available as tokens, and a task's name can be built from the client's key dates.

    5. Recipient name look-up

Start typing a name when adding an email recipient and Sodium suggests matching addresses, with that client's own contacts first.

    6. Link fields

A new Link field type holds a web address and shows on the client record as a clickable link using the field's label. It can be asked on a form too, and the value must be a valid URL.

    7. Order your saved views in the menu

A Menu order card on the Saved Views page lets you drag the views you have pinned into the order they appear under Clients and Tasks in the menu. The order is yours alone.

  14. 9 changes
    1. Digital signing with FuseSign

Connect FuseSign in Settings and send any PDF for a legally binding e-signature from the same Request Approval dialog: simple signing, or place the signature fields yourself. FuseSign collects signatures and reminds the client; the signed copy comes back as a new version of the document.

    2. Firmcheck as an AML provider

Connect Firmcheck instead of Xama. Link clients or create them from Sodium, push contacts across, and see AML status, risk level and next review date on the client record. Risk assessments, ID-verification requests and name search stay Xama-only.

    3. Bill time at the fee you agreed

Switch off Bill full amount and enter the fee. Sodium shows the write-off or write-on live, asks for a reason, and shows how the fee lands on each entry. Time the fee doesn't cover can be written off or left in WIP to bill later.

    4. Write off time without billing it

Write off open time with a reason, all of it or an amount spread across the entries, with the split shown before you save.

    5. WIP Value report

Billable time not yet billed or written off, valued at charge-out rates and aged from the day it was worked, by client, service or team member, with recovery to date.

    6. Write-off Analysis report

Time written off, or on, against fees over a period, by reason, team member or client. Cost & Profit now shows billed, written-off and recovery figures too.

    7. Manage your write-off reasons

Add, rename and retire the reasons your team picks when writing time off, in Settings then Time Tracking.

    8. Unread email count in the top menu

A live unread count sits in the top bar, covering the mailboxes you can open and updating as mail arrives or is read.

    9. Faster under load

Client details, recurring task generation and the pending workflow steps list all return noticeably quicker at busy times.

  15. 2 changes
    1. Imported names read forename-first

Individuals imported as "Smith, John" now read "John Smith" and sort with everyone else. A trading name in the name moves to Business Details. Organisation names are untouched.

    2. Document versions

For a document held on your storage platform, see its version history on the document page and upload a new version in place. The document keeps its name, links and approvals.

  16. 6 changes
    1. Pin a note to the dashboard

Notes on a client or task have a third pin level that puts them on the dashboard, so the notes that matter most are seen without opening the record.

    2. Search the widget picker

Type to filter the Add widget list by name or description.

    3. Create invoices as drafts

A new Create Invoices as Drafts setting in Client Billing leaves each invoice as a draft in your accounting platform, so you can review it there before approving it.

    4. More date tokens for templates and names

The token picker now covers calendar months, quarters and weeks as well as tax periods - this, last and next - with the name, number, and first and last day for each. Available in document and email templates and in task and document naming.

    5. Your branding on the portal sign-in screen

Clients now sign in to a screen carrying your logo, colours and fonts, so the portal looks like your practice from the first page rather than after they log in.

    6. Email invoices to clients automatically

Turn on Email Invoices to Clients in Client Billing and each invoice is emailed to the client as soon as it is raised. The email comes from your accounting platform, using your template and payment link, so the invoice is marked as sent there too.

  17. 7 changes
    1. Catch-up fees

Charge for the months before a client came on board. Add a catch-up fee to a service or a package, on a proposal or on a client's services, spread it over up to 12 instalments, choose when it is billed, and rename the label to suit your practice. It shows on the proposal, in the acceptance email and on the client's billing schedule.

    2. Faster task lists

Task lists and workload summaries no longer do billing work they do not need, so they load faster.

    3. A clearer proposal builder

The page where you build a proposal has been reworked so it is easier on the eye and more intuitive to work through.

    4. QuickBooks Practice Manager migration guide

A new step-by-step guide to switching from QuickBooks Practice Manager: exporting and importing your clients and their contacts, then setting up and assigning your services.

    5. Notes on your dashboard

Add a Personal Notes widget for your own reminders and a Practice Notes widget the whole team shares. Both are rich text, so headings, lists and links work.

    6. Override a package's price on a proposal

A package-priced package can now be repriced on a proposal with an Override switch, the same way an individual service can. The package still supplies its content; only the fee changes.

    7. Acceptance task uses a one-off task template

The task Sodium creates when a proposal is accepted now comes from a one-off task template instead of a recurring task, so you no longer invent a repeat schedule for something that happens once. The setting is now labelled Acceptance task.

  18. 1 change
    1. Reconnect or remove document storage without losing documents

Reconnecting a storage platform keeps every document and folder mapping attached, and the Connect tile shows the previous account and what is attached to it. A reconnect pointing at a different account is refused, and removing a connection asks you to confirm what you would lose first.

  19. 4 changes
    1. "Billing needs your attention" badge

The client list now flags a client when they have billing that needs attention: line items pending approval, or a failed invoice submission.

    2. Billing schedules

See a client's upcoming scheduled charges - scheduled, billed or skipped - and skip, override the amount on, or bill one early, right from the client record.

    3. Choose your filters on the Clients page

Pick which filters show in the Clients page toolbar, the same customisation already available on Tasks.

    4. Storage connections that stop working now offer Reconnect

When Google Drive or Xero stops accepting a stored connection, it is marked as expired with a Reconnect option, instead of failing with an error.

  20. 2 changes
    1. Enforce two-factor authentication for your practice

New Security setting for your practice. When turned on, every user must sign in with an authenticator app, and anyone already signed in without one is asked to sign in again.

    2. Block API-key access to your practice

New security setting that allows you to stop all integrations that use a practice API key, including AI assistants. Web app sign-in is unaffected.

  21. 2 changes
    1. Edit and send mailbox drafts

Edit, send or discard a draft directly from the mailbox, instead of only composing new ones.

    2. Filter tasks by associate

Associate added alongside manager and partner as a task filter.

  22. 11 changes
    1. Reply-to on your own email connection

Replies to emails sent through your own SMTP connection now go to the address you set, not the account the mail was sent from.

    2. Import time from a CSV

Bring time entries in from another time tracker or a spreadsheet. Map your columns, match the rows to team members, clients and tasks, review what will be created, and import.

    3. Timers button on the Time page

See every timer running across the practice from the Time page itself, rather than going into settings to find them.

    4. Client Manager and Partner on the task list

Add the client's manager and partner as columns on the task list, and sort by either.

    5. More task filters, and choose which ones you see

Filter tasks by client, client manager, partner, service, workflow and step type as well as assignee, team and category - then hide the filters you never use so the bar shows only what you want. Saved views understand the new filters too.

    6. Occurrences tab on tasks and recurring tasks

See what a recurring task has created, what it is due to create next, and what has been deleted - all on one tab. Cancel an occurrence you don't want before it is created, and restore one that was deleted by mistake.

    7. What's New in Sodium widget

Add a widget to your dashboard that shows the latest entries from the Sodium changelog, so new features turn up where you already work.

    8. Telling two tasks apart when logging time

When two tasks share a name, the task picker shows the start date alongside them so you pick the right one.

    9. Delete and restore occurrences

Delete a task occurrence from the Occurrences page, and restore one that was deleted by mistake.

    10. See when a delayed email will retry

Email history now shows the next retry time for a message that bounced or was delayed, not just that it's pending.

    11. Team history now credits the right person

Adding a team member is now recorded against the person who did it, instead of "System".

  23. 2 changes
    1. Choose who a workflow step's email comes from

Pick the sender for an email sent by a workflow step, instead of always using the practice default.

    2. Send a broadcast back to draft

Return a scheduled broadcast to draft to change it, and pick recipients from a list that keeps up however many clients you have.
