Looking for a Senta alternative?

Senta has been part of IRIS Software Group since January 2021 and has been incorporated into IRIS Elements as IRIS Elements Practice Management. If you're a Senta user working out where to go next — into Elements, or somewhere else — here's an honest comparison to help.

What's happening with Senta

Senta was one of the original UK cloud practice management tools. IRIS acquired it in January 2021, and Senta's own website now describes it as “incorporated into IRIS Elements, as IRIS Elements Practice Management” — the standalone Senta product has become an ingredient of the wider IRIS Elements platform.

For Senta users, that means a decision. Staying put means becoming an IRIS Elements customer — a different platform, a different roadmap, and a much bigger vendor. And if you're going to end up re-learning a platform either way, it's worth asking whether Elements is where you'd choose to land if you were choosing fresh.

If you're choosing fresh

Sodium is the kind of product Senta was at its best: independent, UK-built practice management with workflow automation at its heart — workflows with conditional steps, recurring tasks, client portal, smart forms, proposals and engagement letters. It's founder-owned (Duane Jackson, previously KashFlow and Staffology), takes no external investment, and publishes its pricing: free up to 5 clients, from £25/month (+VAT), with up to 25 users included.

What Senta — and IRIS Elements — do well

Senta pioneered a lot of what UK practice management looks like today, and its workflow engine earned real loyalty. IRIS Elements, meanwhile, offers something Sodium doesn't: practice management sitting alongside IRIS's compliance tools on one platform, from a vendor with decades of UK tax and accounts production depth. If that integration matters more to you than independence and simplicity, Elements is the safer harbour.
