We're building a family of products for UK accountants. Each one good enough to choose on its own. All of them sharing one client record, open to your AI and to the other tools you rely on.
Three ways to buy software for your practice. None of them good enough.
I've spent more than twenty years building software for accountants, first KashFlow Accounting Software and then Staffology Payroll. In that time I've watched practices make the same compromise over and over, choosing between three kinds of system that each ask you to give something up.
The acquired suite
Bought, badged, and bolted together
A parent company buys a proposals tool, a tax tool, a client portal, and puts one logo across the top. The integration gets retrofitted afterwards, with varying levels of success. Different logins, different data models, and a client's address held in four places.
You re-key data between products that share a name.
The walled garden
Does everything, and most of it averagely
One system that does it all. That's fine until the part you care about isn't good enough, and you find there's no way to plug in something better. The breadth is the lock: leaving one bit means leaving everything.
You put up with second best, because you're locked in.
The islands
Brilliant at one thing, cut off from the rest
Good point solutions that do one thing, and do it really well. But each one is an island, with its own client list, its own copy of the truth and its own tab open all day.
Great tools, held together with copy and paste.
I didn't want to build a fourth version of the same compromise. So we set ourselves some rules.
What we're building instead
Six things every Sodium product has to be
01Stand-alone
Good enough to choose on its own
Every product in the Sodium family has to earn its place. You should pick Sodium for practice management because it's the best practice management software you can buy, not because you already use something else of ours.
The same goes for CIS Manager, or for Sodium MTD when it becomes available, and everything that comes after. If a product only makes sense as part of a bundle, it isn't good enough.
Use one product without buying the rest
Each one measured against the best point solutions, not against our other products

02AI-native, API-first
Built for your team, and for the AI working alongside them
Every feature is built as an API first, and our own screens are just one consumer of it. Nothing is locked inside a screen. That has always been good engineering; now it's essential, because the AI assistants your team already uses can only help with what they can reach.
With everything open through the API and our MCP server, Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini can find a client, check a deadline or move work along, acting as you and with your permissions. And because nothing is screen-only, your data is never trapped: anything you can see in Sodium, you can get out.

03One client record
One client record. No re-keying.
Across every Sodium product there is one record of who a client is. Change a client's address once and every product has it.
No exporting from one system to import into another, no overnight sync that quietly fails, and no arguments about which copy is right.
Enter a client once, use them everywhere
Shared by every Sodium product, now and in future
No duplicate records drifting out of step

04Plays nicely
Not protectionist
Having our own proposals feature doesn't mean we'll make life hard for you if you'd rather use Socket or Power Pricing. If you've found the best tool for a job, we'll integrate with it properly. Not grudgingly, and not with a half-finished connector designed to nudge you back to ours.
We want you using our products because they're better, not because we've made the alternatives painful.
Proper integrations with tools that compete with our own
Your choice of provider, the same result in Sodium
A practice's day is spread across accounting software, a mailbox, cloud storage, a payment provider and a dozen browser tabs. We pull those into the same screens, so a client's books, emails, documents and Direct Debit status sit in one place.
Less context switching, and fewer things missed in the gaps between apps.
Accounting, email, storage, payments and compliance tools connected
Your team's time is better spent on clients than on chasing, copying and checking. So we automate the routine: one event sets off the next, and people step in where judgement is needed.
The aim is simple. The same practice, serving more clients, with less admin.
Recurring work created on schedule, without anyone remembering to
Practice management first. Then everything a practice runs on.
We started with practice management because it's the system of record that everything else builds on. Each product after it shares the same foundations, and each one has to stand up on its own.

You won't be forced into our bookkeeping, our tax, or anything else. Every product we build will be connected to the rest, and none of them will be a lock-in. If you choose Sodium, I want it to be because it's the best tool for the job, every time you make that choice.
