Document Templates

Create document templates using the same rich editor and templating language used across Sodium's content management system. Templates support formatting, tables, images, conditional sections, and loops.

Each template is paired with a design theme so the output carries your practice branding — logo, colours, fonts, headers, and footers — without any extra effort.

Templates automatically merge client data — name, address, company details, key dates, and custom fields. But sometimes you need values that aren't on the client record. That's where custom tokens come in.

Define your own tokens — a tax liability figure, an advisory note, a reference number — and when someone generates a document from the template, they're prompted to fill in those values. Set default values and display widths to keep the form tidy.

Custom tokens can be created in advance from the settings page, or added on the fly while building a template.

From any client page, go to the Documents tab, click "Create", choose your template, fill in any custom token values, and Sodium renders a PDF on the spot.

The finished document is saved to the client's documents with the category and title you choose. Optionally make it visible in the client portal so the client can access it straight away. You can also send it for approval if you need the client to review and sign off.

Don't want to start from scratch? Sodium includes a library of ready-made templates you can import with one click. Each library template comes with its associated custom tokens already wired up.

Use them as-is or customise them to match your practice's wording and style. If you make changes and want to start over, you can always re-import the original.
